Home PageHawks Advance to SOJHL FinalsThe Hagersville Hawks have booked their ticket to the OHA SOJHL finals by defeating the Delhi Travellers four games to zero in the McConnell Conference finals. The victory will send the Hawks back to the finals for the first time since 2004-05 when they captured the OHA Cup when they defeated Mt Brydges 4 games to 2. Hagersville will face-off against the two-time defending champions from Thamesford. The Trojans advanced to the final by defeating Lambeth.
The finals will start on Wednesday night at 730pm in Hagersville, as the Hawks won the coin toss between the two teams. Game two will be played in Thamesford on Friday night with game three back in Hagersville Saturday night at 830pm. The series will resume on Friday April 13th in Thamesford for game four.
The Hawks advanced to the final by completing their series with Delhi with a commanding 9-1 win. After allowing an early goal to the Travellers, the Hawks replied with three goals in the first period for a 3-1 lead and added four goals in the second period to move out in front 7-1. Jordan Ironside picked up his 12th win of the play-offs while Derek Medeiros and Jess Ross continued their strong play in the offensive end.
Snap shots: Medeiros and Ross are 1-2 in the play-off scoring with 38 and 30pts…Hagersville’s power-play has been a league best in the play-offs at 25.2%...Thamesford has the #2 rated power play at 22.8%...Thamesford has 8 wins and three losses in the play-offs after receiving a first round bye…they have out scored their opponents 53-46 in their 11 games.
